WestGate Mall is a shopping mall in Spartanburg, South Carolina, off of Interstate 26 and US Highway 29 on West Blackstock Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina in the city's primary shopping market. The regional mall has 952,550 square feet (88,495 m2) of retail space, making it one of the largest in the state.
Originally opened in 1975 as the second mall in Spartanburg, WestGate quickly became the dominant mall in the Spartanburg area. Its main competitor, Hillcrest Mall, slowly died and has since been replaced. The mall underwent a major renovation in 1996, adding a new wing and a Dillard's. A Proffitt's was added to the mall shortly after. The spaces now occupied by Dick's Sporting Goods and Bed Bath and Beyond were previously a Upton's Department Store, and prior to that, a Meyer's-Arnold which opened with the mall. While the mall has one floor, its large anchor stores typically have two levels. The Regal Cinemas is located on a second floor above the food court.
There is also a Costco on the site of the mall, but it is not directly attached. Proffitt's previously sat on this site, but was closed when Belk acquired the chain, as it already operated a store in the mall. This decreased the overall square footage of the mall.
